Islands of Light 2025–2026
Even in the winter of 2025–2026, Isole di Luce returns — one of the most evocative events on Lake Maggiore. The Isola dei Pescatori, the historic fishing village belonging to the municipality of Stresa, transforms into an evening itinerary of lights, intimate atmospheres and installations that enhance its alleys, courtyards, lake views and local traditions.
For this 3rd edition, the official theme has been announced: “Trame d’Acqua sul Lago Maggiore” – a tribute to the history of fishing and the centuries-old traditions of the island.
This concept will guide the design of the lighting and the installations spread throughout the village, creating an emotional itinerary to experience at sunset and in the early evening hours.
A developing event: official information updated daily
The organizers are keeping the artistic preview of the lights strictly confidential; it will be revealed only from December 5, the date when the island lights up and the official press release is published.
Until then, the public updates can be consulted.
A journey through light, history and tradition
Walking through Isola dei Pescatori during Isole di Luce means discovering unique views of Lake Maggiore illuminated in an artistic way: flower-decorated balconies, narrow alleys, piers and old fishermen’s houses become part of a visual narrative blending aesthetics, memory and landscape.
Although the details of the 2025–2026 installations have not yet been released, previous editions have already shown how immersive settings, light effects and delicate atmospheres can respect the identity of the village and make it the true protagonist.
How to experience Isole di Luce up close
Isola dei Pescatori can be reached by boat from Stresa, Baveno and Carciano, with dedicated rides during the event. The visit is completely pedestrian and suitable for families, couples and photography enthusiasts.
Starting from December 5, the following will be published:
- official press release of the event
- preview of the lighting design
- complete program of all related experiences
The best viewpoints to admire Isole di Luce 2025–2026 in Stresa
1. The Stresa lakeside promenade: the most scenic point to view Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori
One of the most beautiful ways to admire the spectacle of Isole di Luce is to walk along the Stresa lakeside promenade, starting from Corso Italia, Corso Umberto I or Piazza Marconi.
From here, the view opens over the Borromean Gulf, where Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori shine thanks to the light installations.
Continuing on foot toward Piazzale Lido (Carciano district) along Via Giberto Borromeo and its distinctive little bridge, the islands appear ever closer, offering perfect spots for night photography or true postcard-like shots.
2. Carciano and Someraro: the hillside hamlets with the widest view over the Borromean Gulf
For those seeking a more panoramic perspective, the hillside villages of Carciano and Someraro offer an unparalleled view of the three islands: Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Madre.
From here, the lights of the event can be observed from above, allowing visitors to appreciate the entire lighting design of the archipelago during the festive winter evenings.
The streets and publicly accessible viewpoints become ideal settings for wide-angle photos, especially at sunset or in the evening.
