“Open Air Art” Exhibition 2026 - Isola dei Pescatori | Loving Stresa

On Sunday, 13 September 2026, Stresa’s lakefront will be transformed into an open-air art gallery with the “Arte a cielo aperto” exhibition, a collective exhibition by the Artisti del Lago Maggiore.

From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, in the Public Gardens along the lakefront, painters and artists will bring their works outside traditional exhibition spaces, creating a day dedicated to art in the evocative setting of Lake Maggiore.

An art exhibition on Stresa’s lakefront

“Arte a cielo aperto” was created with the idea of bringing art directly to the people. For an entire day, the Public Gardens of Stresa will host a collective exhibition by the Artisti del Lago Maggiore, with artworks, colours and easels set against the natural backdrop of the lakefront.

Walking among the artists, visitors will be able to admire the works on display and get a closer look at their work in an informal setting open to everyone.

The landscape itself will become part of the event: Lake Maggiore, the mountains and the Borromean Islands will provide the natural backdrop for this day dedicated to art.

Artists at work live

One of the most interesting aspects of “Arte a cielo aperto” is the opportunity to see the artists at work.

Alongside the exhibition, visitors will be able to meet the artists and watch them create works inspired by the surrounding landscape. It is a different way to experience an exhibition, offering the chance to discover not only the finished artwork but also the creative process behind it.

The event thus transforms a walk along the lakefront into a direct encounter with painting and with the artists who work in the Lake Maggiore area.

Art and landscape in the heart of Stresa

The chosen location makes the event particularly evocative. The exhibition will take place in the Public Gardens on Stresa’s lakefront, in the fountain area, one of the city’s most popular spots, directly overlooking the Borromean Gulf.

“Arte a cielo aperto” therefore also offers an opportunity to spend a few hours outdoors and discover the works of the Artisti del Lago Maggiore while enjoying a walk through the centre of Stresa.

The event will take place on Sunday, 13 September 2026, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The event takes place outdoors and, in case of bad weather, it will be cancelled.
