Discover Stresa
On Sunday, November 8, 2026, the Lago Maggiore Marathon returns for its 15th edition, confirming its place as one of the most important running events in the area. The event will take place along the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore, connecting Arona, Stresa and Verbania through a scenic route that combines sport with beautiful views of the Borromean Gulf.
Organised by Sport PRO-MOTION A.S.D., the Lago Maggiore Marathon 2026 offers four distances, from the 42 km marathon to the 10 km race, as well as the 33 km race and the half marathon, which will have its finish line on the Stresa lakefront.
Around 3,000 runners are expected to take part in a day of sport along one of the most scenic running routes in Italy.
One of the distinctive features of the Lago Maggiore Marathon is its panoramic route, which follows the western shore of the lake and passes through some of the area's best-known towns.
The main races will start in Arona, from where participants will run north through towns such as Meina, Lesa, Belgirate and Stresa, with Lake Maggiore providing the backdrop to the event.
The route then continues towards Baveno and Verbania, with the finish line on the Pallanza lakefront for the marathon, the 33 km race and the 10 km race.
The programme for Sunday, November 8 includes:
The four distances allow participants to choose the race best suited to their fitness and preparation, while sharing the experience of running along the shores of Lake Maggiore.
For Stresa, one of the highlights of the event will be the finish of the 21.097 km Half Marathon, which will end at Piazzale Imbarcadero, on the town's lakefront.
Participants will depart from Arona at 9:00 am and follow the stretch of shoreline passing through Meina, Lesa and Belgirate, eventually reaching Stresa and its characteristic views of the Borromean Islands.
The finish line will also be an opportunity for residents, tourists and supporters to watch the runners arrive and experience the atmosphere of the event up close.
The event will be accompanied by the LMM Village, set up on the Arona lakefront from November 6 to 8, 2026.
The Village will serve as a central meeting point for athletes and visitors, hosting race bib and race pack collection, exhibitors from the sports industry, services for participants and entertainment activities.

Participants in the 10 km race will also be able to collect their race bibs at the Fondotoce starting area on Sunday, from 9:30 am to 11:15 am.
