Gira in gir par l'Isula Pescadur - 10th Edition

On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, one of the most distinctive summer events on Lake Maggiore returns: the 10th edition of "Gira in gir par l'Isula Pescadur", a non-competitive evening running event held in the unique setting of Isola dei Pescatori.

Open to everyone, the event features a 6 km course through the historic lakeside village, giving participants the opportunity to enjoy an evening of sport, fun, and community spirit. A short children's race is also scheduled for children up to 10 years old, allowing even the youngest participants to join this celebration of sport.

Running on Isola dei Pescatori

The unique feature of Gira in gir par l'Isula Pescadur is its route: a race that unfolds through the charming atmosphere of Isola dei Pescatori, the only permanently inhabited island of the Borromean Islands.

Passing through picturesque alleyways, lakeside views, and the charm of the historic village, participants will enjoy an experience unlike traditional road races, immersed in one of Stresa's most iconic locations.

Event Programme

The day begins with the gathering of participants at Lido di Carciano. The programme includes:

• 6:00 PM – Meeting point at Lido di Carciano
• 7:30 PM – Last motorboat departure to Isola dei Pescatori
• 8:00 PM – Start of the children's mini race
• 8:30 PM – Start of the 6 km non-competitive race

Both the start and finish are located at the southern end of Isola dei Pescatori.

Pasta Party and Charity Initiative

At the end of the event, all participants are invited to the traditional Pasta Party, organised by the Pro Loco together with the restaurants of Isola dei Pescatori.

As is tradition, the event also supports a charitable cause: part of the proceeds will be donated to charity, reinforcing the spirit of solidarity that has always been at the heart of this event.

Why is it called "Gira in gir par l'Isula Pescadur"?

The event's name comes from the local dialect and literally means "Go around Isola dei Pescatori." It perfectly captures the spirit of the event: experiencing the lakeside village in an original way by running through its characteristic streets while sharing an evening of sport, friendship, and solidarity in one of the most picturesque places on Lake Maggiore.
